Description

The VIAVI ALT-8000 Radalt Flight Line Test Set is a versatile and software-upgradable solution for testing and troubleshooting radio altimeter systems. Unlike other testers, the ALT-8000 verifies the entire system from antenna to cockpit indicator, replicating real in-flight conditions and isolating faulty components.

Its Windows®-based interface provides intuitive control and displays key parametric measurements such as TX power, TX frequency (center), sweep rate, and TX pulse width. The Profile page allows users to create, save, and execute multi-leg climb/descend profiles to simulate complete landing approaches or takeoff sequences.

Supplied antenna couplers enable quick RF loop testing without direct access to LRU test ports, verifying TX frequency, power, sweep rate, and sensitivity. The ALT-8000 supports FMCW radio altimeters (including CDF types) and non-pulse compression pulse altimeters, making it ideal for a wide range of aircraft platforms.

Applications include Terrain Awareness Warning System (TAWS) installations, dynamic altitude simulations, and comprehensive troubleshooting for installed systems.
